1. intro

hello children 🙂

I suppose, as my first post on this blog, I should make this some sort of intro about myself.

Firstly, my name is Madeleine. It’s a long name, and a bit old fashioned, but I think it sounds nice. I go by Maddy to anybody outside my immediate family, as nobody seems to be able to spell Madeleine correctly.

I was born in Massachusetts, in November, but I haven’t lived there since. I wish I had, as I much prefer the weather there to the continuous sun and dry air we have in California. I live for thunderstorms, and pulling on fuzzy socks and warm sweaters and curling up with a cup of tea and a book. What we also don’t have where I live are seasons. Christmastime is sunny and 70 degrees, same as the rest of the year. I miss having fall, with the beautifully colored leaves, and winter, with snow and rain and ice. Oh well.

I love to read, I always have. I am unable to choose a favorite book, but currently I will devour anything written by David Sedaris. I also love dark chocolate, and English breakfast tea. I happen to be one of those people who actually enjoy school, mainly the liberal arts classes. I have a phobia of physics, spiders, and the expansiveness of the universe (think existential crisis).

I didn’t use to be an avid shopper, but ever since a friend introduced me to Topshop, and of course, Madewell, I shop much more frequently. Hence, unfortunately, the rather low amount of money in my possession.

Television wise, I love any British period dramas. Doctor Who, Sherlock, and Supernatural are also among my top shows at the moment. I recently started watching Psych, White Collar, and Agents of Shield. If I cannot be found sailing, then I am most certainly in my room with all the lights turned off, under the covers, on YouTube, Tumblr, and Archive of Our Own simultaneously.

And that’s a basic outline of what makes me who I am. Simple and slightly boring, but I hope you enjoyed.

kisses,

m xx
